Blissful Balm (Imaginary Garden with Real Toads)

BLISSFUL BALM

O, the wondrous healing balm
comforting confectionery consolation

Whether this wellspring of pain
came from a broken romance
a broken promise
or a broken nail

All is made whole and well
by the soothing, sensual touch
of chocolate upon one’s tongue

For Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, a little something sweet.   No ranting today…

Also at the poetic bakery where I needn’t press my nose against the glass, but simply walk in, Poets United… proud to be a member!  Peace, Amy

Take care with chocolate: it can depress as well as uplift.
Powerful stuff, theobromine, and its effect can become homeopathic, even with as little as five grams per day. I’m no biochemist, but do speak from personal experience. I noticed a correllation and started looking into it when I found that even the tiniest amount altered my mood rather alarmingly.

I’m familiar with the concept… my former husband is a homeopath as well as a musician. We once did those experiments with different substances, all put in identical containers. You close your eyes, raise your dominant arm, and put the bottle against your thymus gland; then, you try to resist pressure from someone pressing down.

I “failed” (was weakest) with powdered sugar, coffee, chocolate… you know, all the good stuff. Crap!!! Thanks, hon. Amy

Oh, the curing powers of decadent chocolate! Have you ever read the novel Chocolat? It is beautifully written.

I like the sweet deceit in this, Amy! But being dairy free, I’m denied the poem’s claims…

Comic relief for the day, Amy. Thanks. Call me greedy but chocolate, vanilla & crème brûlée do it for me…
