TEACUP
Sad Lisa was a hard-headed woman
She was miles from nowhere
on the road to find out
where the father and son had gone
Had they boarded longer boats
Sailed into the night fog, into white
She brews tea for the tillerman and whispers
“But I might die tonight”

Lovely, even though the titles were unfamiliar to me. Where are they from?

Should have referenced it, sorry. “Tea for the Tillerman,” Cat Stevens, who now goes by Yusef Islam. He was embroiled in controversy a few years back when, as a Muslim, he publicly stated that he supported the fatwa (death sentence) on Salman Rushdie for writing “The Satanic Verses.” Yusef later apologized for this statement. It’s unclear to me whether he did that from his heart or to get his career back on track, and I’m trying to be charitable here, but I’m in the music business, too, so…

Clever poem, Amy. I like all the song titles you incorporated into the poem!

Thanks, Mary. One of my fave albums growing up… and I still have it on vinyl!

Good stuff, Amy.
