This week at Writer’s Island, we were asked to think about masquerades. First one was heavy, so I decided it was time for a little more fun. Easy, my Tea Party friends, it’s just a poem! Amy
SCARY COSTUME
This year, Halloween’s too easy
Red suit, sharp and stiff, not sleazy
Hair up in a shiny bun
Posture of a warring Hun
Sensible dark-rimmed wire glasses
Worn especially for the masses
“Shopped around, I’m really smart
Picked them up at our WalMart”
Smile until my lips vibrate
Platitudes at rapid rate
Kids, I’ll drag along behind
tied up to my butt with twine
Red high heels from Macy’s, dear
(“WalMart”? Not with my career!)
Vacant stare and “Yeah, you betcha”
Look out! Sarah’s gonna getcha!

As you say, great fun. Not that scary, though: it sounds very elegant!

Only scary if you live in America and realize she may run for President in 2012!!! Ha ha Amy
Mary
Clever costume, Amy! I can picture it. I love especially the dark-rimmed wire glasses!
Sharp Little Pencil
Ah, yes, the height of fashion! Thanks for stopping by, Mary! A
Amanda
this is darling but I would have gone with the parka and shotgun look myself!

Caribou Barbie, LOL. Thanks, Amanda!
Teabaggingly yours, Amy

Look out, Sarah’s gonna get ya! My favorite line… shivered when I read it!
Sharp Little Pencil
Ha ha ha, Diane! It’s true, she’s scarier than the former-dappler-in-witchcraft. That was so overblown, by the way. I know Wiccans and they are peaceful, earth-centered, respectful people, mostly women… but Sarah? She’s beyond definition other than ditz! That shiver you got was a good sign!

That would be a scary costume indeed. Fun read!

She scares me. Even more than clowns AND needles combined.
