The Writer’s Island prompt was “Wondrous,” and I knew exactly where this would lead… Amy
BALM
O, the wondrous healing balm
comforting consolation
Whether this wellspring of pain
came from a broken romance
a broken promise
or a broken nail
All is made whole and well
by the soothing touch
of chocolate upon oneβs tongue

Oh yes, indeed, she says, drooling:)

I made Lex take me to the coffee shop for a chocolate croissant. That’s how inspired I was!!!

Amen and allelujah! While reading your poem I was savouring some 70% heaven on my tongue.
Sharp Little Pencil
Like I told Sherry, there was no chocolate in the house, so I had Lex take me out for a chocolate croissant. Yummmmmmmmmmy! Thanks, Viv! A

Thanks so much, Pamelita! Me gusto Madison, mucho cultura y musica y poecia.
The “breaking a nail” part just came to me, one of those odd quirky things. But then, I’m sort of an odd, quirky thing! I enjoy moving very much. Have my graph paper now, so I can anal-retentively plan all the furniture, etc. Ha ha ha

“hate” oops!

π – comes close, anyway, although I’m not the world’s staunchest chocolate lover… Well done!

Ah, I heard there was a tribe of folks somewhere who don’t like chocolate! I must say, when we had the senior meet and greet in Madison, Lex’s new church, Lake Edge UCC, one 92-year-old woman made her famous Angel Cake. Not a speck of chocolate in it. Lighter than air!! The seniors were our first big group to meet, and Lex was charming. They even pulled out the piano – I sang “Stardust.” All the folks have been very welcoming and gracious… Amy

Laughing and loving it! Didn’t see it coming until the end! π

Glad I caught you unawares, Debbie. You know I’m a bit of a saucy girl, so you were probably expecting the worst!!! Ha! Gotcha! π Amy

That was enough to inspire ME!…Off I go to get my fix…

Hey, anytime is the right time… I don’t care if it’s dark or milk chocolate, chocolate milk, cocoa, cake, mochaccino… just gimme that choc!! Thanks for stopping, G. Amy

I was expecting a hug from Mom, but chocolate is definitely the next best thing, sometimes, dare I say this, even better,

Well, I lost my mom years ago, but the best memories my daughter has of her are… eating Dove chocolate bars! I’m being honest, here. We call them “Gramma Chocolate”!
And yes, there are moments when something that tastes good and doesn’t talk back are an advantage… π Thanks for stopping! Amy

I so love this mood alternating substance; I think because all of our taste buds
fall in love with its sweet, sensual taste. Okay, I know not everyone is a fan, but there is an appeal that causes our serotonin to rise and your mood to shift!
I love your description of Gramma Chocolate, such a sweet sentiment~
Sharp Little Pencil
Ellen, thanks especially for mentioning my mom. That’s one of a handful of memories afforded my daughter before she lost her gram at age 3. And she still remembers that, along with taking Gramma her first cup of coffee in the morning! Carefully, step at a time, down the hall to Mom’s room when she was bedridden.
As for chocolate, it’s the Pablo Neruda of food!! Thanks for stopping! Amy

Wayne, a partner from Switzerland? That is almost unfair, hee hee.

Kavita
Oh.. this is soooo deliciously true… it just makes you oblivious to everything around! Ah… dear sweet chocolate.. what would I ever do without you?!?!?!?!
LOVED your poem, Amy… it totally resonates with me! π
Sharp Little Pencil
Soul sister, we are all swimming in a warm overflow of pure, unadulterated chocolate soup! (In our dreams, LOL)
I could not go on without chocolate. That and coffee are the only vices I have left… unless you count some of my poetry, the saucy stuff!
Now to peruse your blog. Thanks for stopping by, Kavita!
