Three Word Wednesday, one of my regular stops, inspired me to follow a prompt for Day 6 of National Poetry Writing Month. The words were: Adamant, Fabricate, and Peculiar. Hope no one beat me to the bad pun that follows. Thanks to RJ Clarken and Madeleine Begun Kane for keeping my limerick funny bone intact!
All In A Name
Punk rock became famous for rocking rant
For Vicious and Rotten the punks did pant
They needed for fame
a peculiar name;
Stu Goddard fabricated his: Adam Ant

I almost used the Adam Ant line, too – great minds think alike!
Sharp Little Pencil
Yeah, baby, it’s so true! Gonna hop over and see what you’re up to. Amy
Laurie Kolp
Fun limerick and clever take on the prompt, Amy!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Laurie. See, I’m not always a ranting downer!!! LOL
Sheilagh Lee
I love how you put that all together .Great work.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Sheilagh. Never know who even remembers Adam Ant.
M.A.S
Short and entirely factual. An interesting contrast to my first go at Three Word Wednesday. Very nice with three kind of tough words.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, M.A.S. Will get over and see how you handled it! Amy
Tilly Bud
lol! I didn’t know he was famous in America.
Sharp Little Pencil
Oh, yeah. He’ll end up on “Dancing With The Stars” or something. I don’t remember a single one of his songs, but Adam and the Ants, what a great name. And Adam Ant works well as a play on words.
Deborah
:o) perfectly done!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Deborah, on behalf of punk insects everywhere.
Altonian
Definitely a fun poem this – I enjoyed it.
Thanks for visiting my place, but did you scroll down far enough to reach the poem ‘Snow from Many rivers’? The foot and mouth outbreak was, of course, fictional, and gave me a chance to give the Joe Magpie tales a weeks holiday.
Sharp Little Pencil
I’ll go over and scroll down asap. Sorry I’m behind – so many comments, so little time!! Amy
V L Sheridan
I saw Adam Ant in concert at the Capital Theater in Passiac, NJ back in the day. My best friend and I dressed up in our best approximation of Robber King chic. Thanks for the great memory.
Sharp Little Pencil
My pleasure! I’ll hop over to your blog and see what’s up. Amy
Anthony North
Ah, I remember Adam Ant. nice one.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Anthony! I remember wisely, but not too well.
RJ Clarken
Go Adam Ant! I had another poem (5/7/5 Haiku) for today (which I didn’t post):
Atom Ant and Adam Ant
‘Toon* fabrications
from peculiar but fertile
imaginations.
*Can be substituted with ‘tune’.
Anyway – rah! on the limerick! Brava!
Sharp Little Pencil
You got them BOTH in! That’s it; I quit; you’re IT! And a haiku at that. Man, Randi, you take the cake. Amy
RJ Clarken
BTW…what kind of cake may I take. I have a preference for chocolate, but cheesecake will do nicely. ha!
Sharp Little Pencil
Any cake you darn well please. You deserve it!
Old Egg
What a fine limerick to fit the prompt words well. Once in deeds was your fame but now it’s your name.
Sharp Little Pencil
Wow. That rhymed! You’re a poet and – oh, wait, you do know it…
Your comment is absolutely true, Robin. Lady Gaga? Gag me!
RJ Clarken
Bwahahahahaha!
Sharp Little Pencil
Hey, you’re freaking me out!
versebender
Clever take…and Adam Ant is an inspired pun. Vb
Sharp Little Pencil
It hit me the moment I saw the prompt.
Debbie
You even rock limericks. You’re unstoppable!
Sharp Little Pencil
Oh, Debbie, g’won! (blush)
vivinfrance
Very punny pun. 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Knew you’d like that one, Viv. Remember Adam Ant? I think he’s playing the casino circuit now…
ladynimue
haha ! i loved this !! Dunno why I can not be funny ever 😐
Sharp Little Pencil
Adam Ant jumped off the page. Now THAT;S a scary thought…!
Jae Rose
Poor Adam Ant..last seen in a psychiatric hospital (where all the fine, ‘adamant’ people go!)..a charming poem..Jae 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Hey, maybe he was down the hall from me and I didn’t know it! Had said in another comment that he was probably playing the casino circuit by now… but that’s, like, one step up from the Ward… (I’m a singer/songwriter, so I can say that!!)
earlybird
Very good! I thought of Adam Ant but I couldn’t work it in (in fact I still haven’t written anything on this one)
Sharp Little Pencil
I knew someone had to be thinking about it. Kind of proud I was the first to get him in! Thanks, Early Bird. I’m coming by your nest to see what’s shakin’ there. Amy
Susannah
Nicely done! 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks so much, Susannah, and thanks for stopping in! Amy
trisha

I, too, thought about Adam Ant, but didn’t go there. Glad you did; it was a fun limerick.

I actually went to an Adam Ant concert back in the day. The Romantics opened for them and blew me away. It was also coincidence that I ran into a girl from my high school that I had a major crush on. This one brought back a great memory. Thanks, my friend. Brett
