Poetic Asides had an interesting challenge: “A World Without ____________.” Yeah, go figure how this one came to mind (wink)! Amy
A World Without Gay Men (what a bore)
No Dr. Kildare
Nor “Night and Day”
No “Pillow Talk”
‘cause Rock was gay
No Sistine Chapel
Virtruvian Man
No Mona Lisa
No inventions grand
No Karloff’s Monster
(James Whale’s work of art)
No Benjamin Britten
Johnny Mathis, my heart
Gershwin, Sweet
Embraceable You,
the Man I Love
is a classic, it’s true
Greg Louganis’
diving perfection
Leonard Bernstein’s
symphonic direction
The list could go on
til night turns to day
but what a dull world
without men born that way

Amy,
I absolutely agree with your words.
After all, ‘variety is the spice of life!’
Best wishes, Eileen

And if my mascara runs, they call the Elizabeth Arden Ambulette for me! Sweet life…! Thanks, Eileen! Amy
pamela
Love it, Amy, life would be a complete bore without some variety 🙂

You got it, sister! Amy
Dan Paicopulos
And a fabulous ole for Amy! Adding to your list, I would, personally, have very few male friends.
Sharp Little Pencil
Dan, I love you. You are a keeper, and thanks for your kind words. Amy
Mr. Walker
Amy, well done. Da Vinci and Gershwin? I didn’t know that. It would be dull indeed – and we’re all the better for them.
Sharp Little Pencil
George Gerswin, that is, not his brother Ira. Yes, and he was taken from us too soon. daVinci is assumed, although none of his partners are alive to tell the tale!! Amy
christine
Life would have been a little less safe and fun for me in high school if that were the case. (He has a great life in Texas with his partner now)

Lordy, if I could count the number of crushes and lifelong (or at least as long as they held out) among my gay guys, I’d need a calculator!! At least I was never in need of a date, and went on lots of cool dates as a “beard” in the old days…! Amy
coalblack
dull indeed!

Love your blog, and thx for stopping by mine! Amy
Mary
You’ve got that right, Amy!
Sherry Blue Sky
So true!

Amen. sister!
Nina
Wow! I am still figuring out the networking options, and here I find myself in the treasure trove of poetic blog lists! Thanks for giving me a link over, Amy. I will read on and explore!
Sharp Little Pencil
True to your word, Nina, and I will post your blog on my “favorite bloggers” list; in part, because I am captivated by your adventures. Amy

What a great shout out to so many greats!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Paula. And that was simply the beginning of the list!
Roger Green
I’ve enjoyed seeing Richard Chamberlain as a semi-regular on Brothers and Sisters.
Sharp Little Pencil
He only gets better with age, like fine wine.
Buddah Moskowitz
Gershwin? Well, that’s a new one me! I say, ’tain’t nobody’s bidness but they own!
Great work! Loved it! Mosko!
Sharp Little Pencil
George, not Ira. Think about the songs from his perspective… The Man I Love… Thanks for liking this one, Mosk! Ameleh
Tilly Bud
I was expecting something political but your humour is much more effective. A great poem.
Sharp Little Pencil
Ha! Change-up! Although there are some at one blog who will call it political!! Ah, the whatever-ness of it all… Amy

A world without gay men means no little brother for me, which would be awful! Who would irk me every day, and who would I irritate back? My sister’s fuse is so much longer- she’s less fun to annoy.
Sharp Little Pencil
Ha, you hit it, Bee! And I didn’t even get STARTED on the wonderful lesbian, bi, transgender, and gender queer folks I know, including my lovely Riley.
Love, Amy

I know I commented on this yesterday?!? I love this Amy, and variety is the spice of life. There is talent everywhere in all shapes and sizes.

Wow, did I give you this twice! Sorry, mi hermana, Amy
Renee
You caught my eye on this one. I had a brother who was Gay and life certainly isn’t the same without him here. I totally agree and your writing says it all.
Renee
Sharp Little Pencil
Thank you, Renee. Sorry you lost your brother… someday I’ll post my song about how many we have lost. Love, Amy
RJ Clarken
I think this might just be my favorite poem of yours ever.
Sharp Little Pencil
Now that is a compliment to savor. Thanks, sister! Amy

A world without gay men would mean I would not have had an older brother to protect me, a younger brother to admire, a brother-in-law that has a relationship that defines steady and long-term and a friend who has acting and singing chops along with a wicked sense of humor. It would be a mighty different world, indeed.
