For the Sunday Whirl, a Wordle that gave us: World, poem, thought, logic, whim, river, resist, twisted, buzz, instinct, galloping, and fluttered. Thanks, Brenda, for another great challenge. This, as with all my poems, is present at Poets United. Peace, Amy
…where I found a poem
On a whim, bereft of logic,
in a world of twisted thought,
a poem fluttered by.
I could not resist its bee-buzz:
Following my twisted instinct,
I went galloping after, alongside that
river of rhythm and bliss and memories

It’s amazing how you put together so short a poem with that many words.
Sharp Little Pencil
Bless you, MIchael. I think maybe they were the only words left in my mind at that moment! Peace, Amy
Peggy Goetz
Excellent Amy. Your words definitely flow. I enjoyed the article about your on Poets United as well. Excellent writing all around!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks so much, Peggy. Yes, Sherry did a great job on the interview. She knows “what buttons to push,” and then all I had to do was rant or chuckle! I was luck, there. Thanks also for the comment about the poem’s flow, because it came right out of the “flow” of ink on paper! Amy
vivienne Blake
Two minds with but a single thought. Nice one, Amy.
Sharp Little Pencil
That is a sweet comment, Viv. Thank you! Amy
Debbie
If you hadn’t told me, I would never have known that those were the words you had to use, because it sounds so natural and wonderful! 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Debbie. That’s the fun with prompts – and why I list so many on my home page. You never know where they may lead! Amy
Susannah
I love “I could not resist its bee-buzz:” 🙂
Nicely wordled. 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
That was my favorite line, too! Partly because when my girl Riley was little, her nickname was Bee, and I’d call her BeeBuzz or Beezinger. Ha ha. Amy
Tilly Bud
It’s funny how so many of us have written on a similar theme. It’s the first time I’ve seen that from a wordle. We are all poets to our very core!
Sharp Little Pencil
LInda, I agree. There is a commonality that sometimes enmeshes us in the poetic web. When one thinks, the vibration goes out and touches others. I’m not dwelling on the “spider” part of the analogy as much as the “silk”!! Let me go see what you did. I am addicted to Wordles the way some folks are addicted to Soduku! A
Roger Green
Well, when it flutters by, what else can you do?
Sharp Little Pencil
Grab a net, I suppose, and pray that you catch the colors you like!
MiskMask
Delightful, Amy. I envisaged you galloping down a street whilst skipping rope, chasing a poem with wings. Soaring good fun!
Sharp Little Pencil
You obviously give me credit for being a bit fitter than I am, LOL. Now that action would probably get me put back in “mental stir”!! Love your sense of humor. Amy

This is so true! I love the whole second stanza from not being able to resist the bee-buzz, to finding the river of rhythm and bliss and memories. This is an apt description of process — and I enjoyed this poem’s structure also!
Very glad to have found you, Amy! I’ve added your blog to my reader, and look forward to reading more of your writing.
Sharp Little Pencil
I have a friend, Sidnie, who is a free-form person; she taught me to let go of convention and open up to whatever actually does flutter by. Also, my daughter’s nickname when she was a toddler was Little Bee, and sometimes it was Beebuzz. Because I’m also a jazz singer, the rhythm and bliss was obviously taken from the R&B tradition. I appreciate your thoughtful comments, Nan!
Also added you to my “I Love These Poets” list, because I love how you mix up poetry, true-life family stuff, and terrific images. Peace, Amy

Thanks very much, Amy! I need to update my list of “blogs to read” that I include on my site to add yours as well. Thank you for the encouragement – have been thinking of that for about a week and may now do it within the week 🙂 In poking around your blog I see we have a shared experience. Binghamton/JC! I lived there from 83 to 91, and I wonder if you sang at the Music Box… Very nice to meet you. It is a small world, sometimes.
Sharp Little Pencil
OH MY GOD! I was the first “house piano player and singer” at Glenn Gardiner’s Music Box, back in the 70s when he first opened. He was so proud to pry me away from Billy Fuster’s band for a few hours! This is too insane. I also played for tips at Whole in the Wall (as a favor to Eliot Fiks), Kara’s Cafe in JC, a million places. It’s my hometown – well, specifically, Apalachin, but we were bused to Vestal Schools. Graduated in 74, and I may have been around when you were there, trying to remember. Maybe not. By 83 I was in NYC, then Bermuda, then NYC, then Puerto Rico… got back in 91 and was only playing at Risky Business, the gay bar downtown at that time. It was right about then I was forced to quit singing in clubs because of secondhand smoke… Let’s talk more. I’ll email you! Amy
Donna Kiser
Thanks for stopping by http://dkrighttowrite.blogspot.com/. I’m glad you found me on Sunday Whirl because then I get to stop by here. Lovely use of the words. And all along your page as well. I’m gonna have to try some of the others blogs you have listed.
Thanks for sharing.

Sharp Little Pencil
Donna, anytime I can turn folks on to new writers, I know I’m doing the right thing, keeping this blog going. I’m going to stop by – thanks for leaving an express link! And isn’t the Sunday Whirl something? I literally jump out of bed on Sunday morning (before going with pastor/hubby to two services at church) to jot down both the Wordle and Sunday Scribblings’ prompts. Then I work on then in between services after greeting members. Same on Wednesdays – 3WW, ABC Wed., and Poetic Asides, plus Wed. One Shot and Wed. Haiku. Whew! Good thing we don’t have church on Wednesday as well, or I’d be sunk. Peace, Amy
Traci B
Beautifully done, Amy! Compact and yet fully expressed. I’m glad you found your poem. 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks so much, Traci, I am glad, too! 😉 Amy
Sherry Blue Sky
I love it, especially the galloping:)
Sharp Little Pencil
Can you picture me galloping for REAL? Oh, Lord, I think if I didn’t wear a jog bra, I’d put somebody’s eye out, LOL!
Kim Nelson
Don’t know how you do it, but you do… you take a collection of unrelated words and create wonder.
Sharp Little Pencil
Kim, thanks so much. It’s part of the gift that is my manic depression – I am a “fast cycler,” which means I go on a tear and write four or five poems; later, when I am in my down phase, I am calmer and able to edit. So it’s two gifts in one. Who says mental illness is all negative? 😉 Peace, Amy
Leo
Amen to that! 🙂 I just love the way you found it. The first tercet, exquisite! Thanks for sharing, Amy.
My poem ~ A Poetic World
Sharp Little Pencil
Oh, thanks for this, Leo. I appreciate the compliment. (I didn’t even know it was called a tercet! You learn something new every day, right?) See you at your blog, peace, Amy
Daydreamertoo
Gotta love those wordles. You got this one good~!
Sharp Little Pencil
I do love me some Wordle! Bring it on, Brenda! Posting one later today after I catch up on comments and visiting other blogs, including yours. Peace and thx, Amy
Renee Espriu
Beautiful words to describe almost anywhere a poem can be found. One just has to follow where it leads.
Sharp Little Pencil
Renee, sometimes I find a poem while I’m in the shower, then I yell at Lex: “Grab a pen and paper – I have something!!” He knows by then it’s not an invite to join me in the shower, LOL.
christine
This was soooo beautiful I loved every single word, each word beside the other, it was perfect, so whimsical and light. My fav. words, poem fluttered, and galloping after, bravo little pencil you did well.
Sharp Little Pencil
It was Brenda’s choice of the Wordle that made the difference. I so enjoy Sundays now – can’t wait for the Sunday Whirl and Sun Scribblings! Thanks for the nice comments, Christine. Heading to your blog now, Amy
Kelly
Ah, I’ve found a few poems in similar fashion. I like this. And I like that we both put twisted and instinct together. 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Yes, it seemed to be a common theme, and the words fit together nicely in that scheme. I’ll look at yours now! Peace, Amy
contemplativemoorings
The land of poems is a beautiful place…
Sharp Little Pencil
One of the best, I agree. Peace, Amy
Mr. Walker
Amy, concise and fun. I love the insect metaphor, and “bereft of logic” and that ending: “alongside that / river of rhythm and bliss and memories”.
Richard
Sharp Little Pencil
Richard, so good to hear from you! Thanks so much for the nice mentions of phrases you enjoyed. “Rhythm and blues” of course was the inspiration for “Rhythm and bliss and memories,” all tangled up together. Glad I have a chance to hop the fence and visit you. Peace, Amy
