Let’s Get Lost
Fingers interlaced
Candles placed, optimum glow,
because we know:
Sex may be the province
of novice lovers
(all sweat and victory)
Lasting love meanders
Loses track
Edges slowly toward lava
Sighs
…and stays

(Inspired by my wonderful husband Lex – 15 years this April!)
For Trifecta: Poem in exactly 33 words, using “Lost” in the title but not within the 33-word poem. A special Hell has been created for poets who refer to the TV show “Lost,” in any way, shape, or form.
Also hangin’ with my crowd at Poets United in the right-hand column.

Expressed really well. The older we get…
Sharp Little Pencil
,,,the hotter we are!!! (wink) Amy
barbara
ahhh sweet, lasting love. 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Y’know, I thought I would never find it; then, Lex came along… ;^)
The Gal Herself
I admit it: I cut, pasted and did a word count because I couldn’t believe you packed all that romance into 33 words. But I bow to you, because you did! 33 words exactly.
Sharp Little Pencil
Hell, I just highlighted the text and looked at the word count… but yes, come to think of it, that was in Word… ha ha, you’re a real stickler! Makes me proud that you cared enough to count it. Peace, Amy
El Guapo
33 words, and you summed up your subject perfectly.
Seriously, this should be on the first page of the love manual.
Sharp Little Pencil
“The Love Manual” actually comes with a free three-ounce bottle of Love Potion #9! Seriously, this is a sweet comment, and I thank you! Peace, Amy
jesterqueen (@jesterqueen)
Married love is nothing at all like new romance. It’s better.

I’ve had both. I told my daughter not to bother with high school sex because the guys haven’t had the schooling they need to tend to a woman’s needs… then Riley came out, and… well, you can guess what I’m gonna say next!! ha ha
You are on target. There is nothing like committed, long-term love, be it marriage or partnership… I know plenty of couples who fit that bill! Peace, Amy
Renee Espriu
Comfortable is sometimes not a bad thing. You do have a way with words.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Renee. Yes, I love the comfort of this match Lex and I have made. It’s built on trust, faith, and tenacity. Oh, yeah, and the love stuff!! Peace, Amy
Debbie
Loved this Amy! And Happy Anniversary almost!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Debbie. Lex reminded me it’s our FOURTEENTH, not our fifteenth. Q’uel damage! ha ha Amy
Roger Green
Somehow, Joan Osborne’s Let’s Just Get Naked popped into my head.
Sharp Little Pencil
What, no “It’s Getting Hot In Here,” or one of a thousand hip-hop tunes with the same theme, ha ha ha!! Of course in the videos, it’s all the women who bare the skin. The guys can be ugly as sin, but they can still get shallow women…!
dfb
Well, I love this one – beautifully done!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks so much, and thx for stopping by! Let me visit you now… Amy
Nicole/Ninja Mom
Excellent! Beautiful images and just a steamy, thoughtful piece.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Nicole. I was thinking a lot about Lex and how much he has brought to my life, as well as considering all those “practice” loves on the way to bliss…! Amy
Mel
I like your comparisons to true love staying, “sigh” and how “just sex” is fleeting.
I like your blog! It’s my first time here. Can’t wait to read some more.
Sharp Little Pencil
Mel, thanks so much for stopping by – I’ll repay the favor and visit you!
I never get tired of writing about love, relationships, families, mental health issues, politics… I’m a veritable cornucopia of useless information and have a history of being in the right places at the coolest times! Hope you hang in with me, we have a lot of fun here. Dissenting opinions are not only welcome, they are openly solicited! Amy
mairzeebp
I really loved this. Made me smile and think of my own lasting love. Thank you.
Sharp Little Pencil
Anytime I can inspire thoughts of love, I’m happy. Of course, anytime I can inspire thoughts of ANYTHING, I’m happy, too… (wink) Thanks for stopping by! Amy
Poetry & Icecream
Well done Amy and beautifully expressed as always 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Aw, shucks, thanks a lot! (blush) Amy
Dana
ooh Amy, this is just lovely. i like the trifecta form and the challenge it creates, and i love learning these forms from bloggers i follow. and i love the way you went with “lost”…into lovers’ foray…excellent dear. x
Sharp Little Pencil
Dana, thank you so much! Process: I started with “all the wrong places” and ended up remembering how good I have it now… it all fit together, just like good partnerships. Peace, Amy

‘Lasting love meanders
Loses track
Edges slowly toward lava
…and stays’
Lasting love not sex that determines, though love goes meandering! But love stays, that’s the beauty of it! Great thinking, Amy!
Hank
Sharp Little Pencil
Hank, you absolutely got it, as always. The whole sex before love thing is lost on me. First friends, then more intimate conversation, then love, THEN the “big reveal.” I don’t expect everyone to get married first (especially because half my friends can’t, legally!), but for heaven’s sake, don’t waste the gift of your own body on those not worthy of your love. Thanks, babe! Amy
brian miller
haha i like the heat of lava….and the relief of a sigh as well…smiles.
Sharp Little Pencil
Actually, the lava reference came from the fact that we saw Galaxy Quest and there was a joke about the one extra getting eaten by a lava monster in the first scene. Then we saw a single episode of Star Trek and it was… the rock-eating lava monster episode! Talk about serendipity. Beam me up, Scotty! Amy
vivinfrance
This is very tender and loving.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thank you, Viv. You know as well as anyone, these moments don’t happen often on my blog, what with my ranting about politics and all! Peace, Amy
Trifecta (@trifectawriting)
Thanks for linking up again. I have to admit that was also surprised that this came in at exactly 33 words. It seemed to have so much in it that it couldn’t possibly have stuck to the limit. But you certainly did, and I think this is a brilliant response to the prompt.
Sharp Little Pencil
Holy smokes, you’re the second post about the 33 words! And I”m about gobsmacked at your compliment… thanks so much! Amy
Raven
This is clever and quite reflective of love.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, my feathered friend! Peace, Amy
Andrew Kreider
Lovely, just lovely. I’ll take sighing and staying over sweat and victory any day!
Sharp Little Pencil
The “sweat and victory” was a reminder of the guys I knew before what I realized real love was… thanks so much for this, Andrew! Peace, Amy

Beautifully done.
Sharp Little Pencil
Anthony, thanks so much. Amy
Tracy Crenshaw
That was truly exquisite! I could just go on and on with how I would describe this poem: lovely, ingenious, flawless, inspiring, beautiful, charming. Like I said I could go on and on. And once again you have written a poem in which my first thought was: I wish I had written that. Just beautiful!
Sharp Little Pencil
Tracy, people are going to start thinking I pay you to write such nice things about my work! I’m very flattered; you always have so much to say, I’m waiting for the day you find something truly offensive, LOL. Now THAT will be a day, won’t it?
Peace and blessings, Amy
