Moustache Man
Your moustache tickles me
You tickled me from the start
The enchanting, spirited glow that
dissipated sad old shadows
You were a daddy when
one was really needed…
more than a stepdad, a friend
who liked the Simpsons, too
When I think on the day I first
noticed you, I recall your smile
The kind that made others grin
when you walked in the room
Now, as the moustache is iced
with hints of vanilla grey, you
are more delicious than ever
We sing in harmony, always

I finally got around to writing a rhapsody for Kerry at Imaginary Garden With Real Toads. And what other subject but my Lex? Also at my poetic hangout, Poets United. This pic came from the day we renewed our wedding vows, just before our 15th anniversary. He and I were both on our second marriages (thank God we’re United Church of Christ; a lot of denominations frown upon divorce, even those that lead to this type of better outcome), and he’s my “last husband.” Period.
Peace, Amy

i’m glad he’s your last…and this is an endearing poem…made me smile…your love for him is sprinkled through it…and i wish the two of you all the love in the years to come…

So nice to see both of you in the glow that dissipated sad old shadows. I have to yet figure out rhapsody. Its a great blessing to have found someone to sing in harmony with.

I love your poem but especially “now your mustache is iced”–what a lovely way to look at life–love is the icing on the cake isn’t it

Such a loving tribute to one who has brought such a sense of completion to your life!

I know exactly how you feel about Lex. I’m 56 and I just celebrated my 35th wedding anniversary with my incredible, accepting, sweet and loving Mike. It blows my mind that I have married this long at my age. He’s one of the reasons I Know there is a God. God bless the both of you!

Vanilla makes grey sound so lovely! And to ME, a wonderful daddy figure is the makes a man quite sexy. The smiles you two are flashing are fantastic.

So thrilled for you and Lex. There are better outcomes out there, and it’s a wonderful thing (a blessing? Yes!) that you have found yours. Love and joy to you both 🙂
