The Thirteen Floor
Oh, my mind resides
on the Thirteenth Floor
at the Riverside
back behind a door
made of oak and spruce
in Victorian style
and I keep it loose
here behind my smile
All my friends are here
cyber-found and true;
others will appear
when the moon is new
We’re expecting you

Poets United wanted poems about the number 13, in poems of exactly 13 lines.
I counted them twice.
Peace, Amy

Great flow to this…so lyrical.

Behind a door!! On thirteenth floor… Is very well said !!

What a terrific response to “13”. We must be neighbors. I’m on the same floor 🙂

The rooms in the B&B we stayed in last month were numbered 1-12 in the main house, and 13-14 in the carriage house. It would have been very easy to duck 13, which was our room, BTW, but they did not.
Mary
Hey, I sure do hope there is room for me on that 13th floor. Sounds like THE place to be. I enjoyed this, Amy.
Sharp Little Pencil
ROOM FOR YOU ALL, AND THANKS FOR COMMENTING! My response is always a visit to YOUR blog, so usually no responses here, sorry. Peace.
Gabriella
Nice take on the prompt, Amy! You made me smile with your 13th floor. It sounds like a nice place to be.

Here I am! Delighted
to be invited.
And waited for.
On the 13th floor.
Amy, Amy–how wonderful! I tried to read this as ominous, but could not.
Sharp Little Pencil
Susan, it started to feel a bit like you said, ominous, and I was going for set apart, so I guess I got there eventually! wink
Björn Rudberg (brudberg)
The 13th floor I read as a threat, but the rest of the poem just seem sweet and nice.. so it becomes almost a juxtaposition… love that.
Sherry Blue Sky
ooooh, a bit spooky that “We’re expecting you.” Loved your thirteen lines!

Ames! Keep the Java hot. I’ll be right down! Missed ya!
Sharp Little Pencil
Walt, what is it about WNYers and our coffee? Same with Binghamton. I make even my decaf strong enough to stand a spoon in. don’t like it? Here’s some cream, lol. Waiting for ya!

I like mine unadulterated, but thick and chewy? I’ll sharpen the dentures!
