Vessel
(based on the Prayer of St. Francis)
Make me an instrument of your peace
Make me a vessel of your love
Your walk, my way
Your truth, my life
Your light, my joy
Your breath, my song

For ABC Wednesday, brought to you by the letter “V.”
The prayer of St. Francis has always intrigued me, because Francis took Jesus’ teachings on giving and acted on them all his life. His is a good example of a life lived in pure love. LOVE is not only for Christians – it’s for all faith paths and for those who don’t believe in a Higher Power… but I wrote this hoping that I, too, will be a vessel of love, at all times and in all places. Peace, Amy

Viv, what a lovely comment, thank you. It’s my aim in life to be just that, but so often I feel I’ve fallen short… Peace, Amy

I try, day by day, to become the vessel I want to be. That’s why it’s a prayer. Thanks, Izzy, and love, Amer

Yes, we ought to be vessels for peace, yet we often are vessels for rejection and destruction.

All too true, Roger. It depends on how we choose to “fill the tank,” right? A

Amen, Lindy. A truly amazing man. I’m not a “saint” person, being an old Protestant, but Francis was and is an inspiring person. Have you seen “Brother Sun, Sister Moon”? Amy

One of my all time favorite prayers and you have done wonders with it here. Raised in the Catholic church this is a prayer that soothed my soul.

The first line is St. Francis; the rest is a song I composed after reading and studying a meditation book based on his prayer. Thanks, Renee, and peace, Amy

Yes, and that’s a wonderful prayer–I always loved that hymn–let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me, …with every step I take, let this be my solemn vow, to take each moment and live each moment, in peace eternally…:-)

So true-and he is amongst the ones (saints) that I admire the most. And, being from Molokai, St. Damien tops my list. Truly examples of what love really is.
