AUTUMN LEAVES
Spring brings budding trees
sprouting fresh leaves, lushly
Green shade and shelter
With fall comes color
Magnificent, authentic
Trees turn their true shade
Crimson, golden, peach
Each are their natural hue
Green’s for chlorophyll

like that last stanza 🙂

It’s true! I was listening to Science Friday and had no idea that, all summer, trees wear green coats.
I told a friend that there are pine tree people, who stand straight as arrows all year round; there are everyday tree people, who only show their true colors when partying or whatever… and then there are people like me, autumn people, who don’t have the guile (or maybe the common sense) to hide under green coats to fit in with the rest of the forest! Sound like anyone you know?
Thanks for visiting my blog, Jessie. I’m honored! Peace, Amy

Thanks, Mary! It is truly my favorite season… for many reasons, some of which will undoubtedly become future poems! Peace and colors upon colors, Amy
