Amy…good job of paring it down to the basics…and love it that you have the openess to “confess” in the previous post, and know that it resonates in all of us. I honor your faith-sharing. Victoria
(thanks for taking the time to read my loooong poem)
Sharp Little Pencil
Hi Victoria, I’m into all poems, and Jingle has introduced me to a highly motivated group of diverse, intense writers. I am open about my faith, my living with mental illness, my sympathy with and activism for the LGBT community (I’m an ally since the early 80s, officially).
I am a frequent contributor to Poetic Asides but lately, since creating my own blog, have branched out to prompts that are conducive to clicking each other’s links (PA being a site where we post the entire poem a nd it’s a long haul to get through them, plus you leave your comments there). Wanted to meet more poets and create traffic not only on my blog, but on the blogs of other talents. I truly appreciate your feedback and think we will be in touch often. I tend to look for interesting blog names and click on those, so I must confess the first thing that attracted me to your site was just that… a clever name! And what great writing! Peace, Amy

Amy, Firstly, I love your 2 takes on the 7 sins. I came here because of your poem on PA – a wonderful description of those darned feminine changes. I so agree with you about PA: unless you stay constantly on the site you don’t have much chance of commenting directly on a poem that grabs you. And my eyes give out long before I’ve read more than the odd one or two poems and searched about to comment.

Unless the signature is in red, you cannot comment directly, and often the poets don’t post their poem on their blog anyway; they just leave it at PA. It’s funny how you have to skip a lot of comments and stay with the poetry; on the other hand, I do find myself commenting on other comments, and that builds community. A double-edged sword, I suppose.
About the poems, yes, I tried two different takes. I’m not one for forms, but the acrostic was actually quite fun! I love your blog, Viv, and thank God you are on WordPress, too, because Blogspot will not take my comments in many cases… not sure why! Take care, Amy
Jingle

It literally jumped out at me. AH! Scary, these word rhinos that jump out of the jungle in search of a page…!
