A last gasp for Three Word Wednesday, here at my computer on Monday morning! This is an “Amy: The Lost Years” SoCal poem. Remember… and learn. Amy
Mellow Times (3WW: Mellow, Breeze, Tickle)
Mellow times, man, those days
that stretched into nights into
breakfast served up by Ruby.
Stoned to a stupor, we’d loop-de-loop our way
into that café at daybreak. The breeze held
a lingering languor of cannibestest ever.
It tickled my throat, but instead of a cough,
it coaxed from me a bawdy chorus of
“Gimme A Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer,”
right there on Brooks Court as we
sidewindedly search for that java and huevos rancheros.
Hash brown mornings, hash pipe nights.

this is really inspiring. I need to do a new SoCal collection.

That’s why I have an entire section entitled, “Amy: The Lost Years.” My best friend, John, used to call it The Miniseries From Hell, because I condensed all my doping and sleeping around into a neat, three-year period! Yeah, do it, hon! We’ll trade chapbooks. Amy

Michael, I knew you of all people would groove on this one. Careful – you might get a contact high, and wouldn’t that be a shame… 😉 Amy

Debbie
I really like how you use everything from your life to help others! Thank you, poet warrior!

If anyone can escape the shenanigans I went through – especially today, as the drugs are 100x stronger and laced with God knows what – I feel I’ve done my part.
Thanks Debbie! A

You’ve given me a peek into a life completely foreign. I adore your candor. I love your courage.

Kim, a very gracious comment, thanks. Yes, I had some wild times in my 20s. Probably cost me a few brain cells, but my brain was already riddled with untreated bipolar, etc, so I can’t imagine things would have been anything different other than boring if I had not had my sojourn in SoCal. Made friends with whom I am still in close touch after 30 years.
Not sure if it’s courage or just lack of filters for my thoughts… but thanks! Amy

Been through, but only with booze.
“Loop-de-loop” was the perfect word to describe it.
Bless you, my sistah,

MOSK! The sleeping beast has awakened. It must be acknowledged that in a three-year period in my 20s, I was incredibly stupid and did anything that was passed to me (and practically anyone, LOL). These lessons had to be learned for me to awaken and stop self-medicating my manic depression.
Still, there is a longing for those days when day to day was the plan… and if you could still be awake for breakfast, there was such camaraderie. Will stop by your blog and see what you’re up to! Have missed you much, brothah mine. (Hello Muddah, hello Faddah…) Ameleh
Nimue
Never been a fan of such nights myself but heard tales from my friends .. you expressed them well ..

Looking back, I wasted (pun intended) a lot of time… but some of those folks are still friends, and we all eschew drugs now! Thanks, Nimue!
