At Sunday Scribblings, we were asked to create a poem around the word “befuddled.” Not “bewitched,” nor “bothered,” nor “bewildered,” unfortunately… but then, that one was already written! (That’s for my music buddies.) A little gender-bender limerick for y’all. Amy
The Right Stuff?
A man with whom I often cuddled
Confessed to becoming quite muddled
Our sex was okay
But he told me today
With Bradley, heβs far less befuddled

You are a bad, bad boy, Michael!! π Amy

Well, that’s one way of looking at things – not mine! But hilarious nevertheless. Very well rhymed Amy.

Hey, what can I say? I had a weird decade in the 80s…!

That woke me up. Too bad it’s bedtime.
Good work Amy. I’m not ready to try limericks.

“Vive la difference” I say, not more of the same! Great limerick.

Good one! Oddly enough, I just wrote (though I haven’t yet posted) a limerick using the same A-rhyme. Interestingly, the two limericks are very different even though I use muddled, cuddled, and befuddled too. (I couldn’t do anything with huddled. π

I have seen this happen to familys, it causes heaps of pain, sad but it happens.

The hard part is families who don’t understand when a member is gay or lesbian, or perhaps more-so transgender. I’m going to visit your blog now. Amy

I guess he was trying to find himself. Too bad you were involved but I’m glad he did figure things out. Your limerick makes me smile..great way to bring this situation out. π

Believe me, half my boyfriends found out they were gay… mostly because I hung out with so many non-self-loathing gays and lesbians. That ‘OK’ thing resonated with them, and then they found their right situation. I’m not at all embarrassed or disappointed. Much better I help them repair that breach than try to “fix” them or whatever it is women do. My friend Douglas calls me a ‘fruit fly,” LOL. Amy

To quote Ellen (the much overlooked TV series!) when asked who she wanted to go on a date with she replied ‘it took me forty years to decide on a gender’..why hurry..Jae π

LOL, I remember when her mom referred to a dressy lesbian as “a dipstick lesbian.” Ellen said, “Mom, I think that’s a LIPSTICK lesbian… which would make me a Chapstick lesbian.” I loved, loved that series, and I love Ellen’s laid-back, self-accepting style. She’s effortlessly showing so many people in America what the LGBT community really is like! Thanks, Jae! Amy

Hi. I finally got my own befuddled limerick posted and I wanted to share it here, if only to show how very different two limericks using the same a-rhyme words can be: Befuddled Limerick

HA! So glad I could contribute a limerick idea! Amy

Really cute, light post. Made me smile. Thanks.

I had one of those too! Or probably four or five, come to think of it (small, backwater town: “None of ‘those’ here! ‘They’ all live in the big city!”). Let’s hope those boys are all now out and fabulous somewhere… and yes, less befuddled.
Sharp Little Pencil
Amen to that, Kate. I was as befuddled as they were… !

Amy, you made me laugh. The title is great. And, in general, we need more acceptance. Your poem is simply stated with no judgment. Well done.

And it’s all true!!!! Thanks, Oh Ghost Who Walks! Amy
