Amending this post because I was a week ahead on the prompt… “spontaneity” got the best of me, ironic, no? The actual prompt was “Addiction.”

I love them both, Amy. You say a lot in few words. Perfection.
ladynimue
Loved them both !!
vivinfrance
Like the late great Noel Coward, you certainly have a talent to amuse. My worst addiction was tobacco: thank God I kicked it 20-odd years ago. Now, I suppose it’s poetry.
I like the humour behind your babe senryu.

Love the reason for the love of limelight, again, another term I’ve used several times this past week. Love that, that interconnectivity of the world and the “pop” of the “familiar” when least expected. Thanks so much for sharing, and also for the entertainment value. Enjoy your week!
Sharp Little Pencil
Donna, thanks so much for stopping by and for commenting… you have used “limelight” recently as well? I guess I’d better bop on over and check you out! Amy
Becca Givens
I like both of them – now you are ahead and can work on something else! Check this one off your “to do list”!
Sharp Little Pencil
With pleasure, LOL, Becca. Thanks for stopping, now it’s my turn to see what you are up to! Amy
Debbie
So good . . .thank you!
Gemma @ Greyscale
A most interesting interpretation of addiction! And the 2nd haiku is so cute!
Sharp Little Pencil
Everyone liked that one better, which is great, because I preferred it as well! Thanks, Gemma. Amy
Tilly Bud
I particularly like the second one.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thought you would! A.

Hey Amy! The first one reminded me of the song by Rush, Limelight- “the real relation [is] the underlying theme”, is it not?
Spontaneity interests me as well. Having known some pregnant high school/university students, they definitely didn’t plan for their first kids to be before they moved out of their parents’ homes, but they don’t resent the kid (as far as I know).
Sharp Little Pencil
Don’t worry, they will eventually. And then they will get over it, I’m hoping… If parents would sit their kids down, explain why condoms are not just about preventing pregnancy but also warding off some nasty diseases! Gay or straight, condoms or dental dams… it really matters. Why should schools have to teach basic bodily functions? I mean, my daughter knew the birds, the bees, and the booze talk when it was time…!
Yousei Hime
I came over to read your cento, and felt the magnetic pull of haiku nearby. I enjoyed all three. Thanks for the treat. 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks for the visit, Yousei, and welcome! I will take a trip over to your side of the Blogosphere now. Peace, Amy
Jenn @ You know...that Blog?
Well done, both! We call our second daughter “Surprise!” (but not to her face, haha) 😉
Sharp Little Pencil
I’m telling you, half of my generation is here because they couldn’t find a condom and said, “What the hell?”!! 😉 Amy
Blossom Dreams
Now that’s exactly what being in the limelight should be about – having the talent to amuse! 😀 Awesome haiku xx
Sharp Little Pencil
Actually, that phrase is from an old Noel Coward song, “If Love Were All.” Didn’t realize it until I posted it! Amy
Madeleine Begun Kane
I enjoyed both of them. And having worked as a performer for years (as an oboist in symphonies and chamber groups) I could really relate to the first haiku.
Sharp Little Pencil
Hey, the oboe is a difficult instrument. Lex and I were given tickets to the symphony and they did a Mahler piece in which the oboes had a pivotal moment. Lovely, so I always appreciate hearing from other musicians. Thanks, Mad! Ame
