Well, two days of being unable to post on WordPress. Let’s see if this one takes! A Three Word Weds. prompt: Fond, Alter, and Tranquil. Also posted at my poetic home-away-from-home, Poets United.
Thanks to all for having patience with this blog bug. Peace, Amy
Prompt Etiquette
Fond as she was of fulfilling prompts,
she never altered a poem
to “use” the required words.
Tranquility found in
honest expression;
cheating the muse being
sloppy mortar,
bound to be found
lacking in quality.

Debbie
so perfect and true of you! 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Debbie, very sweet comment. And it IS true. I cannot bring myself to shoehorn in those prompt words for the sake of a posting at 3WW or anywhere else!
christine
You are a sharp little pencil that never lacks quality. I too have had computer issues, since Sunday.
Sharp Little Pencil
Can’t say I am glad that you had problems too, Christine, but I can certainly sympathize. Throw in a 22-year-old who thinks she’s the Buddha and that’s been my week, LOL.

Very clever I find the prompt words aren’t often words I use regularly so its hard for them not to stick out a bit in my poetry really
Sharp Little Pencil
Amen to that, sister. What a frustrating mess. The air in my office was turning blue, really! (blush) (BAD pastor’s wife, hee hee)
ladynimue
Totally true !
I stick to words as much as i can .. but never let them rule my order of thoughts !
🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Amen to that, Nimue. I “alter” the words at times, but never the meanings! Thanks, Amy
Madeleine Begun Kane
Good job with the prompt. I like your approach to prompt etiquette!
Sharp Little Pencil
The only part I struggle with is being prompt in responding to the prompts… often I am days behind; therefore, I end up #102 on the list! (wink) Amy
tigerbrite
Well expressed and true! Nice blog. Thanks for your comments, most appreciated.
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Tiger! I’m learning bit by bit about what makes a blog work. Will keep coming back to yours as well! Peace, Amy

I don’t look at it so much as a shoehorn, but allowing the words to roll around my tongue and see what comes out. But you’re right here.
Sharp Little Pencil
I agree on both counts, Thom. I just struck my funny bone, you know how I am! Sometimes the words are practically edible, it’s true. Amy

Ah, we differ on approach to 3WW… typically I am a strict adherent and try to use the words unaltered (usually I try not to change tense or plurality even). But then, my entries really are wordplay masquerading as haiku, not actual poetry like many of the players’.
Sharp Little Pencil
Dear Peter, seems like there is a lot of wiggle room on these prompts. I know some poets for whom, if it’s not a sonnet or cascade or other form, it’s considered sort of… low. And I like your writing very much. There is no such thing is “unreal” poetry. Now, more than ever, and since well before the Beats, free form was an accepted, effective verse. And I love me some haiku, too! Amy
Sheilagh Lee
wonderful I love these.

Thanks, Sheilagh! The sense of irony was fun to create. Amy
