Poetic Asides asked for poems about Opposites. My friend Pearl Girl is going to post this for me, because their format changed and unfortunately, I cannot offer you their link. But it’s also to be found at Poets United, of course! Amy
Yeah, Like That’s Gonna Happen (an acrostic)
Over at the bar
Posturing like he’s all that and a bag of chips.
Poster boy for the Stud Club. The exact
Opposite of what she needs.
Staring at her like she’s a prize filly
In need of the right rider, or at least his
Tether. She’s got her act together,
Easy to say “no” to his line of
Shit.

Ooh! Your pencil is really sharp today!
Speaking of PA – I followed Margo’s link, but couldn’t get further than Writers Digest home page – no sign of Robert Lee Brewer’s terrific site. Another home from home for poets bites the dust?
Sharp Little Pencil
Don’t think so. They are just very, very slow at getting back to potential registrars, I believe. Go ahead and register, and then we can both get in. In the meantime, Pearl has been copying and pasting under her login on my behalf. Such a sweetheart!

I’m back. I worked the magic and I’m back in. Try this: http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/poetic-asides/poetry-prompts
I hope it works for you. It took a bit of my well-known bloody-mindedness and starting from square one a few times, but it worked, and now I don’t even have to log in.
Sharp Little Pencil
Glad you got there, Viv, but mine still says I need to register or log in before I post, so, I’ll just wait. HARRRRUMPH! Grumpy post-menopausal poet lady. Ha ha, it’ll all be OK soon, Amy

The trick – once you’ve logged in – is to put Poetic Asides in the search box, and when you see Robert’s bearded face, to put Wednesday Prompts into the Search box. Bon courage.

My Inner Chick

You and two other women I know inspired me to “let it all hang out”!! And yeah, that last letter BEGGED to be filled thusly… Thanks! Amy

I think I know this guy!
Sharp Little Pencil
We ALL know this guy. More’s the pity!!! Amy
brian miller
glad she was willing to walk away, they prey on the lonely…and it is so not worth it…nice acrostic….
Sharp Little Pencil
It’s all a matter of self-esteem, which so many young women lack. I know I did, at this one’s age, but thank God I learned!! Thanks, Brian. You know, you are very cool on women’s issues, very kind. We love that at this blog! Amy
dani
i couldn’t even find Poetic Asides to see their prompt ~ i tried searching the site but came up blank. it’s kind of like WordPress changing stuff around all the time without any notice or instructions.
anyway…. i love your acrostic! and i’m REALLY happy i don’t have to deal with bar pick ups anymore. even the title made me smile. thanks, Amy!
Sharp Little Pencil
The title was the last part I wrote. The phrase just came to mind when I re-read the scenario, and it’s the kind of thing I would have said. I’m such a smart-ass!!
Thanks so much, Dani. Don’t give up on the P.A. thing – it’s in transition. Peace, Amy

When I was younger, I was always fascinated when that stuff from guys seemed to work! Why does she go for that?
Sharp Little Pencil
Well, this girl isn’t falling for it at all, but there are plenty of girls with low self-esteem who fall for it over and over. Those types of men always left me cold… it was all about them. Thanks, Roger. Amy

Amy,
This is one of your recent best! Every word plays into motif. Really well done!
Sharp Little Pencil
KIm, thank you so much for this comment! Every time you chime in, I get the double pleasure of revisiting your blog! Peace, Amy
Sheilagh Lee
wow I loved this simply brilliant the way you stung this all together
Sharp Little Pencil
I think you meant “strung,” but “stung” actually works, because that’s the heart of sarcasm! Talk about your Freudian typos, LOL. Thanks, S! Amy
Madeleine Begun Kane
Wonderful acrostic!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks so much, Mad. Talk about the old days coming back to bite you in the butt and inspire a poem! Amy
