Sorry, poem later – first, help for ALL my WordPress buddies!
We have located where that sneaky unemployed blockhead GWB hid the comment box check that has everyone on WordPress steamed.
On your Dashboard, left column, click “Settings.”
Under “Settings” menu, click “Discussions.”
On “Discussions” page, scroll WAY, WAY down… to just above Avatars section. You’ll find some checked boxes, including “Allow: Follow Comments.”
Uncheck that box.
Nobody really follows someone else’s comments, in my experience. But clicking this means that option (if someone DOES want updates on a comment they made) will disappear. That just means if they are hungry for your feedback, they will take the time to come back to your blog. Never happened to me because when there is a juicy comment, I copy my response to a personal email to the commenter and we continue the discussion there.
Hope this helps. And, as someone says, at least we don’t have those damned illegible CAPTCHAs. COPY THIS POST OR FORWARD MY URL TO EVERYONE WHO USES WORDPRESS… that is, if you want to! Peace. I need a nap now. Love to all, Amy

Been receiving dozens of “New Comment” emails? Been driven up the wall yet? I know I was! Thank goodness for smart technological people…

LoveTheBadGuy. Great name for a blog, I have to say, right up there with “Old Dog New Tits” and “My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog”! Hope this helps your peeps! I’ll stop by your blog later on… Amy

This post tells you how to put a permanent stop to all of your followers getting bombarded with comment follow-ups if they comment on your blog

I detest that little box’s auto mark. It just seemed to get bad this past couple of weeks so I thought Word Press had done some sort an update. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who detests all the extra emails thanks to that little box. Deleting mine NOW!

Thanks, Kathy. WordPress claims it’s an “enhancement” and that they have received positive feedback. I maintain that the “auto-checkmark” was a mistake on their part. The OPTION of feedback should be there, just not mandatory. Thanks for reblogging – hope the word keeps spreading! Peace, Amy
Kathy
They put out a blog post yesterday on wordpress.com justifying/announcing their new enhancement.
YUCK

How do we get notice of your replies to our comments, now? I know I am asking probably a very tiringly obvious question, but I’ve been told the only dumb question is the unvoiced one. I truly want to know what you say to me if you say anything. How can I learn? Must we now go back to every site at which we might have commented? What if we forget? My work is not as cute as yours, although I do enjoy reading here. People depend on my responses. I am sorta confused about this. Blame my huge, dull pencil, if you want. I’m not even sure how to get back here to check this, since I am reading it from a reblog. Sighs.

Sending you an email. You make an excelled point, Katharine… but WordPress should not take away our freedom to allow our readers to choose for themselves… peace, Amy

I think the bastards changed things. There is no more allow comment follow-up. The wording is different. They are trying to force the follow-up, god knows why. I get wordpress updates in my email and they are really excited that they have made comment follow-up a default ‘because of all the great response’ they have received. Will you look at the settings, Amy and see if I am right, or hallucinating.
I need to sign off with your ‘peace’ or my blood pressure will zoom!

Emailed you, but don’t let them get you down, hon. It’s all BS and all semantics and ALL WordPress’ fault, not ours.
Yes, the box still exists at your site. Go into the dashboard and delete any reference to “follow-up comments,” no matter how it’s phrased.
WordPress is out of its collective frickin’ gourd if this is perceived as an enhancement. People should be able to choose. But then, WOMEN can’t choose anything about their own BODIES in this country, so why should we expect more as bloggers? Peace, Amy

What a relief! I just removed the option from my blog. What a mess this has been!
