MOON BEAMS
She called ‘round ’bout 10
Didn’t know that just then
the biggest moon ever
was blooming like never
before… so she stopped
her beater car and bopped
to the shoreline and it
shone as if butterkleig-lit
“Mom, it’s so beautiful!”
And I, the dutiful
mother, in her jammies
ran outside – Midwest clammies
sending shivers… but
how often are you put
in a position
to share this apparition
of synchronicity
nature’s creativity
with one you’ve loved so
from first glance, the glow
of her sweet newborn face
Now she’s in another place
Connected by a phone,
neither is alone
We seize this blessed time
this view, superb, sublime
We cry for happy, ‘cuz
we’re sharing The Night That Was

claudia
wow…what a beautiful shared moment…i too cherish these moments more and more as they grow up..and if they call you to share a full moon with them…jammies or not…a mother HAS to go and enjoy…ha
Sharp Little Pencil
Yeah, whether it’s running out in pjs or walking through fire, we’d do anything for our kids, at any age… Thanks for a lovely comment. Claudia! Amy
ManicDdaily
Lovely, lovely. I have two daughters (so understand.) k.
Sharp Little Pencil
Two daughters? You are truly blessed, hon. Yeah, this one was especially for the moms, and the dads are chiming in, too, along with everyone else! Amy
Polly Robinson
Amy, how lovely to share this with Riley, even if miles away and by phone – beautiful poem and pic 🙂
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Polly, and I think she’s even more beautiful than the moon! Amy
Steve E
Nothing ever so special as a mother and her daughter–who wishes to share a spectacular moment with her!
And there was no “wait until tomorrow”…
This brought a real smile! Thanks.
PEACE!
Sharp Little Pencil
Steve, I always say, don’t wait until you’re old to speak truth about loving your friends and family. Say it NOW. A friend of mine got hit by a beer truck and was so repressed, he was robbed of the chance. TODAY! You made me smile. Amy

I like the idea of looking at the moon together from different places and being in the moment together.
Sharp Little Pencil
I can’t tell you how much it meant to me, and to her. No matter where we are, we can always wish on the same star… hers just come up a little later in SoCal! Peace, Amy
Debbie
Thank you for sharing your sweet moment with her! Yay! Gotta celebrate those times!
Sharp Little Pencil
Debbie, it’s so true. These moments are precious, especially when it’s my daughter… Love, Amy
vivinfrance
A great idea, to share the recent big moon with Riley and a poem.
Sharp Little Pencil
And it happened exactly as told. Only difference: The moon was at the peak size in California, while it was already higher up in Wisconsin, but I’d seen it earlier… Thanks, Viv! Amy
Misky
That is so touchingly beautiful and sweet, Amy. Just wonderful.
Sharp Little Pencil
Misky, you should change that handle to Mushy. You’re just like me, all warm and fuzzy on the inside!! Thanks, honey. Amy
Truedessa
Good Morning, I enjoyed this as you can feel the sentiments from the writer.
Sharp Little Pencil
Truedessa. thank you for visiting my blog! I appreciate your kind words. Peace, Amy
Mary
Ah yes, I love the connection between mother and daughter as they both look at the beautiful moon! Well expressed poem that tugs at my heartstrings.

Sharp Little Pencil
If it tugged your heartstrings, I did my job. Just LOVED writing this one, as it was true – but, unlike so many of my “difficult truth” poems, it had the grace of a blessing. Love, Amy
jessicamarie19
I love the structure – the rhymes in the broken lines make it a great read!
Sharp Little Pencil
Welcome, Jessica, and thank you so much for your comment! Will try to track back to your blog now… Peace, Amy
hypercryptical
Lovely Amy – and I missed the moon darn it!
Anna :o]
Sharp Little Pencil
Oh, Anna, don’t worry… I’ll bet you’ll get “mooned” again sometime soon!!! (Couldn’t resist, wink) Amy
Abhra Pal
Lovely poem and beautiful rhythms. It is a very pleasant thought too.
Sharp Little Pencil
Welcome, Abhra, and thanks for leaving this kind comment. Will try to find your blog now and see what’s up! Peace, Amy
Kelly E.
Oh, I love this. Sweet without being maudlin… The rhyming couplets serve the subject well. Nice work, Amy!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks so much, Kelly. You know, it didn’t start out rhyming, but mid-way, that rhythm thing hit me and I reworked it into a rhyme. That happens, well, once in a big fat orange HUGE moon! Peace, Amy
El Guapo
Like this one a lot!
really like the way you split sentences across the stanzas.
Sharp Little Pencil
Guapo, you know I love to play with words. They’re like Lincoln logs… eventually, they fit together, even if it’s not a symmetrical cabin! TTYS, Amy
Rock
That hits the target dead cetern! Great answer!
Lance
I love the smarft wistfullness of this one. It made me happy and deep in thought.
Sharp Little Pencil
Lance, knowing how you feel about your daughters, I’m glad you saw this one. Man, do I miss that girl! Thanks, Amy
kaykuala
It’s nothing like sharing great moments with dear ones. In those days we had to book time for overseas calls and they cost a bomb. Now the social network, Skype and all are just for the asking. We’re lucky to be having these at this time. It must be fun exchanging chuckles with your daughter! Great write Amy!
Hank
Sharp Little Pencil
Hank, it’s so funny – I just texted some pix of Lex and I “happy dancing” over her amazing grades at school, so it was very “in the moment.” It’s true… but I still write letters as well… and checks, of course, ha ha. Amy
Renee Espriu
What an amazing thing to have happen and how often could it? Maybe once in a lifetime and you’ve captured it here. Wonderful write!
Sharp Little Pencil
It was a Gilmore Girls moment and you’re right. Once in a lifetime, this moon; once in a lifetime, Amy remembers to make note of it to create a poem later… all was in synch that night! Thanks… Amy

Super Moon dedication, no better rendition in poetic rhythm;
last verse the super topper…
