First off, great news! Fred Weintraub, while promoting his book co-written by David Fields and edited by yours truly, added my blog link to his page! Scroll down to the bottom right and see my picture and link there!

I’m a bit slow at responding to comments because I visit each and every one of you who leave word with me… so be patient! Or to borrow from an old bit, “Be gentle… it’s my 385th time!”
You know it’s getting near Valentine’s Day when I get all sloppy about long-ago unrequited love… old feelings sometimes give birth to new poems. Still happy with the valentine I have, my Lex! Peace, Amy
I’ve Been There
Tell me how you feel
I’m your sounding board
I’ll play devil’s advocate
‘case there’s something you’ve ignored
She was too lovely to be real
And you loved her, yes, it’s true
But the way you looked at her
is the way I look at you
I’ve been there, too many times
Trying to find the rhythm in the rhymes
I’ve been there, tongue hanging out
Heart on my sleeve, and foolish, no doubt
You can’t understand why she
can’t be the one to adore you
I can’t understand why you
can’t see what’s right here before you
Tell me how you feel
I’ll be here forever
But will I tell you
how I feel? Probably never…

Sometimes people can’t see what is right in front of them.
Great one, Amer …

Even when the person is there, tongue hanging out, begging to be chosen, noticed. Unrequited love, the grist of so many poetic mills… and it sucks!! Thanks, dear Izzy. Love, Amer
Debbie
Congrats on the blog roll, Amy! 🙂 And I think this poem was so good . . .could here it as a song!
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Debbie. Maybe I can clean it up lyrically and do just that! Amy

I was so touched by this poem, Amy, perhaps because I could empathise with it. Its message, I’m sure, will reach almost everyone who reads it.

I know very few people who have not experienced unrequited love, including myself in that number. Yet I look back now and realize it was simple longing, not meant to be. If I’d have “gotten” him, I never would have been with Lex, who is my true soul mate. Thanks so much for your thoughts, M. Peace, Amy

kinda weird how we do that…our fears and doubts def rob us of things you know…..and there is so much we leave unsaid….
Sharp Little Pencil
Unsaid, at least, until one looks to write a poem about something besides drug abuse, incest, and mental health problems! This was almost a parfait compared to most of my posts. Thanks, Brian, and as I said to Misk, I know few who have not felt that sting of unrequited love. See you on the waystation! Peace, Amy
Lindy Lee
Bit of fear of rejection or reciprocation? Nice poem, Sharp Little Pencil did good…
Sharp Little Pencil
Thanks, Lindy. Unrequited love is probably the fear of both. I remember pining away about this guy and, of course, he was all wrong for me. Thank God I didn’t say anything, or I wouldn’t have found Lex, my soulmate! Amy
